Samper departs as CFO of Newcastle BS

David Samper has left his post as the chief financial officer (CFO) of Newcastle Building Society after six years in the role.

Samper will step down from the board with effect from 31 March.

He has 20 years of experience as a chartered accountant, including 12-and-a-half years at Sainsbury’s Bank, 10 years at the Royal Bank of Scotland and almost five years at Ernst and Young.

Andrew Haigh, CEO of Newcastle Building Society, said: “David has made a significant contribution to the society’s progress during his time with us, not least in 2024 when he led the successful projects to transform our finance systems and the raising of Tier 2 and AT1 capital to support the society’s ongoing plans for investment and growth. We wish David well for the future.”

Newcastle Building Society is undergoing the process of appointing his replacement.

The mutual’s most recent results, covering the first half of its financial year, showed it completed £584m in gross mortgage lending and delivered a profit of £15.6m.
